I doubt that the owners of this restaurant intentionally manipulated their neon sign, but I am reluctant to assume that it was just mere chance that caused the sign to malfunction in such a derogatory fashion. Yoko Japanese Restaurant restaurant is in a strip mall off Dussel Drive near Arrowhead Park in Maumee, Ohio, but its neon sign is reminiscent more of anti-Japanese sentiment during the Second World War.The sign's colors seemed festive, as it was lit up like an artificial Christmas tree. However, my eyes kept returning to the letters, and I wondered why the proprietors would not race to get this sign fixed. Then again, perhaps the strange neon outage is cause for conversation, working like negative PR.
It certainly caused me to pause and blog.
